Commissioned by the Impetus Quartet, Relay requires coordinated movements from a central station to four other stations. The players begin with sporadic notes that eventually evolve into a groove, and then meld into different timbres. In the beginning, the players function independently and create rhythms in a composite fashion throughout the ensemble.
